The last Friday in January has been reserved for years for a special and longest museum night, when museums across the country open their doors and offer the opportunity to experience museum exhibitions and collections in a mysterious evening attire.
This year’s Museum Night in Pakrac is historic and brings a special reason to celebrate. The Pakrac City Museum is celebrating this event for the first time in the newly renovated Spahija Cellar– the Visitor Center, which is also home to the first permanent exhibition of the Pakrac City Museum, as well as the Pakrac Public Library. Therefore, on Friday, January 30, from 6:00 PM to 1:00 AM, the longest museum evening awaits you, filled with discovering the secrets of the Spahija Cellar, dancing, music and pleasant socializing – with free admission for all dear visitors and heritage lovers.
The rich and diverse program was created in collaboration with the Pakrac Public Library, thus confirming the Spahija Cellar’s unique hybrid character – a place where museum and library stories meet and intertwine.
Our youngest guests can expect a reading room and creative workshop at the most cheerful library section, the children’s section, starting at 6:00 PM. With stories, coloring books, puzzles, and playful thematic tasks, we will introduce children to the world of books in a fun way, especially books about museums, and together we will discover their secrets.
At 7:00 PM, all interested parties will be able to join an expert tour of the permanent museum exhibition. Through expert guidance and interesting local heritage stories, we will travel through time from prehistoric times to modern Pakrac.
Throughout the evening, visitors can also expect numerous interactive activities: a “Treasure Hunt” hidden within the museum exhibition, as well as a thematic online quiz about the Spahija Cellar, which you will be able to solve via QR codes. Knowledge, curiosity, and a little luck can bring you valuable prizes!
For a relaxed evening atmosphere, we have prepared an attractive musical program starting at 9:00 PM. In the beautiful ambiance of the wine cellar and Gastro Corner, Bruno Oberan and Tin Tonković will perform, accompanied by snacks and a glass of good wine.
On the occasion of the first Museum Night in the Spahija Cellar, an exhibition of archival photographs of the Spahija Cellar will be set up in the Pakra Gallery, while a video about its long and demanding renovation will be shown in the Julijana Multifunctional Hall and the Experience Cabinet throughout the evening – the story of a space that has been breathed new life.
See you in the Spahija Cellar – a place of heritage stories where past and present meet in this longest and, we hope, unforgettable museum night!
